Love Your Watershed Day (LYWD) took place in and highlighted the projects relating to the community of Wilkinsburg and was a concluding event for World Environment Day. LYWD was held on Saturday, June 5th, 2010, from 12:00pm to 5:00pm on the corner of South Avenue and South Trenton Avenue near the newly constructed Peebles Square development. LYWD featured various local and watershed-friendly organizations and activities. There was free food from local Wilkinsburg favorites, live music by Pittsburgh's own DJ Malls, live art from four local Pittsburgh graffiti artists, and various children's activities. The event was structured as a block-party/celebration of the Wilkinsburg community and the organizations working to make it a better place to live. The project was made possible by a seed award from the Sprout Fund.
Nine Mile Run was supported in Love Your Watershed Day by The Sprout Fund, Action Housing, GTECH, The Student Conservation Association, Frick Environmental Center, Wilkinsburg Block Club Association, Three River Community Foundation, Bioneers, the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy, Soul Food Connection, Al’s Fish & Chicken, DeFlavio’s, East End Food Co-op, Calli’s, Global Sports Alliance, Zero Waste Pittsburgh and Tower 41 Productions.
