"Nine Mile Run Restored" Stained Glass Mosaic

"Nine Mile Run Restored"

Thank you to all those who joined us for Nine Mile Run's first online auction, which began Thursday, September 16th at 7pm. The unique piece of art pictured here was available through eBay in a 7-day auction culminating at 7pm on September 23rd.

"Nine Mile Run Restored" depicts the restored Nine Mile Run stream using salvaged stained glass on a salvaged window, created in an abandoned studio, on borrowed time. The focal point is a great blue heron, a bird which is now a frequent visitor to the Nine Mile Run restoration area. The window was displayed in the Pittsburgh Glass Center Show, From the Earth to the Fire and Back, part of Pittsburgh’s celebration of World Environment Day 2010.

"Nine Mile Run Restored" is the last in a series created by artist Davia Davis, who was inspired by the stream and surrounding area. Previous works in the series depict scenes before and during the restoration. The piece, which measures 5ft.7in. x  2ft. 6.5in., was generously donated to Nine Mile Run Watershed Association by the artist.

See more of Daviea's work on her Pittsburgh Artist's Registry page here.
