Urban EcoStewards

The Nine Mile Run stream restoration is complete.

Acres of invasive species have been removed and thousands of native plants have been planted along the new stream course.

We need you.

Monitor and steward this wonderful public amenity by becoming an Urban EcoSteward. Urban EcoStewards working along Nine Mile Run, monitor and remove invasive plant species, pick up litter, and catalogue native plants. If you would like to join these folks and help us reach our 2008 goal of 24 UES volunteers along Nine Mile Run, please contact Jeff at (412)371-8779.

If you would like to learn more about invasive plants, the PA Department of Conservation & Natural Resources offer an excellent on-line tutorial about invasive exotic plants in our region.

NMRWA, in partnership with the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancyand the Frick Environmental Center, provides training for citizens who commit to becoming long term stewards of existing green space in the Nine Mile Run stream valley in Frick Park.

Please see our events page for a listing of upcoming UES trainings
