You can raise your rain barrel with concrete blocks
to increase the water pressure.
1. We recommend using eight 8" x 8" x 16" medium-weight concrete blocks. You can purchase them at Home Depot or at most hardware stores.
2. Arrange the blocks on a level surface in two rows of four. Be sure to level ths surface with a shovel if needed. We would recommend raising your barrel no more than three levels of concrete blocks (24 blocks).

3. Enjoy the increased water pressure when watering the plants at the top of your backyard!

a. Sand your barrel to roughen the surface to help the paint adhere better.
b. Prime the barrel using Pittsburgh Paints brand "Seal Grip" brand primer - code #17-901.
c. Paint the barrel with a 100% acrylic exterior paint with at least a satin finish, meaning the glossier the better!
d. Be creative!

a. Some native climber vines will attach themselves to the barrel naturally; however, you may need to use a flexible lattice for the vine to anchor to.
b. Pick your favorite native climber vine.
c. Maintain the health of the vine and enjoy the new, natural look of your rain barrel!
